Musical Gharanas: where the real music sprung into existence.

Hindustani Classical Music is the reason why melody still is alive somewhere in the Bollywood songs you hear from some really ingenious singers present today. But this article does not investigate their otherwise decorated and accomplished career but aims at presenting the real unsung or forgotten class of people called "Gharanas" who specialized in a particular form of art in Music like Vocals, Instrumentals etc.

Gharana refers to those people who practise anything related with Music may it be Vocals, Instruments etc so here we begin unearthing some of the best Gharanas who have not lost their existence in the pages of time.

1. Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana

Most of us who really cherish Music to the brim must have listened to MTV Unplugged, In one such performance, the Music Maestro A.R. Rehman brings in some really talented and gritty musicians, well these were none other than the people belonging to Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana comprising of PadmaBhushan Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan. This Gharana is famous for its really gritty singing while maintaining a rhythmic touch. This Gharana has mentored some of the most successful singers like- Sonu Nigam, Shaan and A. Hariharan.

2. GWALIOR GHARANA
One of the oldest and perhaps that Gharana which knew Ragas like anything and pioneered it to perfection, Gwalior Gharana dates back to the Mughal time when Music was appreciated above anything else and Miyan Tansen, one of the greatest classical singers had some connections with this Gharana.
But the fact which makes this Gharana above everyone is its in-depth chiseled knowledge of Ragas and its dutiful expansion of melodic range that has the potential to spell-bound anyone.Still struggling for its place as a pioneer of Classical Music this Gharana namely has few ingenious people like-Nathan Pir Bakhsh, Nathu Khan, Haddu Khan, Hassu Khan, Ustad Qurban Hussain Khan, Bade Inayat Hussain Khan, Rehmat Ali Khan.

3. DELHI GHARANA
Delhi Gharana is most famous for tabla playing and is one of the oldest in this, but here is the pick, this Gharana instead of going hard on the bass takes it down lightly focusing more on the light soft beats that appease the ears. Few of the notable musicians include- Ustad Nathu Khan, Gamay Khan, Ustad Fiyaz Khan.

4. JAIPUR GHARANA
Known for its hybrid Ragas which involves experimenting with multiple Ragas and bringing out something new out of it, this Gharana which originated somewhere near nineteenth century has seen some really fine musicians finetuning Music and enhancing its quality. Some fantabulous people out of which some perform even to this day are- Ustaad Allahdiya Khan, Smt. Kesarbai Kerkar, Shruti Sadolikar.

Hindustani Classical Music along with these Gharanas are not getting the recognition and respect they command. What would have happened to Bollywood songs(strictly adhering to some classic Bollywood songs here, no yo!yo!) if these Gharanas would not have produced such fantastic Musicians. Its time we listen and admire this priceless artform and the people who even after not getting cloud nine fame are still working and improving the sceneof Classical Music.
